Shaun White took home the gold in what will likely be the last Winter Olympics event of his career.
White clinched the podium’s top spot at the men’s snowboarding halfpipe final in South Korea on Wednesday ahead of silver medalist Ayumu Hirano of Japan and bronze medalist Scotty James of Australia.
In his first run, White, 31, posted an impressive score of 94.25, then suffered a brutal fall after landing back-to-back 1440s during his second run. White posted his medal-winning 97.75 during his final trip down the halfpipe.
The hardware is the third Olympic gold for the snowboarding legend. White also boasts a total of 23 X Games medals — five of which he won as a skateboarder. Some speculate that skateboarding may be White’s next Olympic venture.
